Reading it
Two players on the same number can be doing opposite things — one shooting often from bad positions, one rarely from good ones. Shot volume is the more stable of the two to predict, which is why the model prices it before shots on target.
Definitions describe what Per90’s licensed data feed records, which is not always what a given bookmaker settles on. When the two differ, the bookmaker’s rules decide a bet.
